Best Candidate For State Legislature In Charleston
I’m running for the House of Delegates (36) because I truly believe love is love; that Mountaineers are always free. I’ve been out of the closet for nearly ten years now, and it has been an extremely tough road. I’ve been attacked physically in public, called a faggot and queer, and denied the same protections as my fellow citizens.
I am not included in the Human Rights Act of WV. There are no hate crime protections for LGBTQ West Virginians. There are no statewide employment or housing non-discrimination protections. Conversion therapy remains legal. There is talk about trying to get RFRA back on the agenda. Who is this protecting? Clearly not people like me.
Making You Feel Better
The LGBTQ community is tired of feeling second-class. The most recent attacks on the LGBTQ community from the GOP Majority in the Legislature breaks my heart. Especially for those 7,000 children in foster care throughout this State and the 10,000+ West Virginia children who are homeless. How is limiting the prospective foster-parent pool helping anyone? How is this helping children who need good homes?
Does this Legislature really have the heart to turn children away from safe, loving homes simply based on sexual orientation? To deny parents the right to foster a child on the basis of their sexual orientation? Apparently so.
